What is the Poster Session Hall?

Research from 688 medical students, residents and fellows, and international medical graduates with qualifying abstract scores will be featured in the Poster Session Hall, the most research ever featured at the AMA Research Challenge.

What is the Semifinals Hall?

Research from the top 51 scored abstracts will be featured in the Semifinals Hall and will include vote buttons. AMA members and participants have 3 votes to cast in the Semifinals Hall to determine the top 5 finalists to advance to the AMA Research Challenge finals.

What happens at the end of the semifinals when voting is complete?

At the conclusion of the event, the top 5 voted participants from the semifinals will be invited to advance to the AMA Research Challenge finals to present research virtually to an elite panel of judges and compete to win. Winner will receive a $10,000 grand prize sponsored by Laurel Road. The AMA Research Challenge finals will premiere on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. Central on the AMA’s YouTube channel.

What is the AMA Research Challenge finals?

How do I view posters during the event?

Once logged in to the event platform, click on Semifinals Hall or Poster Session Hall from the lobby or navigation. To view posters, you can scroll through the list, search by keyword or author, or filter by the categories Basic Science, Clinical and Transitional Research, Clinical Vignettes (Poster Session Hall only), Health Systems Science, Medical Education Innovation, Public Health and Health Policy.

Who can vote for research in the Semifinals Hall?

All AMA member attendees and participants have access to cast 3 votes for research in the Semifinals Hall. Only 1 vote can be cast per research. If you are a non-AMA member, join or renew here.

How do I vote for research in the Semifinals Hall?

Once logged in to the event platform, click on Semifinals Hall from the lobby or navigation. In the poster listing, click on “Cast vote” to vote on a poster. AMA members and participants may cast up to 3 votes total. Only 1 vote can be cast per research. Voting buttons will only be accessible for AMA members and participants. What is the voting criteria guidance?

We recommend considering the following criteria to cast your 3 votes:
Organization/visual presentation
  • Visuals are easy to read and logistically organized
  • Grammar and syntax are correct
  • Data is presented in a clear and understandable manner
Verbal presentation
  • Presentation is limited to two minutes
  • Good diction; good articulation
Knowledge of material
  • Author explains in detail relevance to the project

How do I chat with participants and attendees?

Once logged in to the event, click on the blue chat box and you can select attendees from the “people” tab to send a message.
To comment on participant research, click on the “send a comment” button on the posters.

How do I access the live forums?

Who is eligible to attend?

All are welcome to attend – physicians, medical students, colleagues, friends of participants. Please click register or login buttons above to access the event. Only AMA members and participants have access to voting in the Semifinals Hall.
